Veterinary Care in Woodstock, GA

We are dedicated to ensuring your pet stays happy and healthy through wellness exams and screenings, yearly vaccines, diagnostic imaging & testing, dentistry, and surgical services. In addition to the day and overnight care you have all grown to love, our pet care team is adept in treating acute illnesses and injuries (or the occasional swallowed sock) all under the same Pet Hotel roof.

Preventative Care

Dogs and cats (and other pets) age far faster than people, so significant changes in your pet’s health can happen in a short time. Wellness visits allow us to diagnose diseases and conditions early, when they’re easier to treat or manage. Often, we can help prevent diseases entirely, just by ensuring that your pet has received appropriate vaccinations and preventive care.

Here at Woodstock, we work with you to ensure your pet receives preventative care tailored to their needs. Our veterinarians recommend that healthy adult dogs and cats visit us at least once a year for annual checkups. Puppies, kittens, senior pets, and pets with health issues or illnesses may need more frequent checkups.

Radiology and Ultrasound

Our hospital is fully equipped with state of the art digital radiographs and an ultrasound machines. We are proud to offer digital radiology, which allows us to provide you with a quicker diagnosis for your pet while using less radiation than traditional x-rays.

Radiographs (x-rays) may be necessary to assist our doctor in making a diagnosis or ruling out causes of disease. X-rays provide valuable information about a pet’s bones, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, and colon), respiratory tract (lungs), heart, and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate).

Ultrasonography (also called ultrasound or sonography) is a noninvasive, pain-free procedure the doctor may use to examine a pet’s internal organs and other structures inside the body. It can be used to evaluate the animal’s heart, kidneys, liver, gallbladder, and bladder; to detect fluid, cysts, tumors, or abscesses; and to confirm pregnancy or monitor an ongoing pregnancy.

According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, more than 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have dental disease by the age of 3. Dental (or periodontal) disease is the most frequently diagnosed health problem in pets.

Common signs of dental disease include:

  • Yellow or brown buildup (tartar) on the teeth
  • Red, swollen, or bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Excessive drooling
  • Changes in eating or chewing habits
  • Pawing at the face
  • Swelling or draining wounds on the muzzle

During your pet’s comprehensive exam, our doctor will assess the teeth and gums to determine your pet’s dental needs, whether it be a dental cleaning or if your pet needs oral surgery to correct a dental issue.
